Did you know that most asthma deaths occur in adults?

NOT children?!

The latest CDC data shows:

🔷 There were a total of 3,517 asthma deaths in 2021

🔷 145 children UNDER the age of 18 died

🔷 3,372 adults OVER 18 died

It's surprising for most people to learn that the majority of deaths happen in adults!

When my kids were little, they were sick ALOT. And since they all have asthma, a simple cold would morph into pneumonia - and another hospitalization.

My kids were hospitalized a combined total of 12 times - and 2 of those were ICU admissions. My goal was to get all of my children to adulthood.

But it doesn't mean they are out of danger when it comes to asthma or asthma deaths. No matter how old my kids are, I will always worry about them when I get sick.

And I still have to occasionally drive one of them to the ER when they are sick with pneumonia or COVID.

Asthma will be a lifelong battle for us.

How is YOUR asthma?

Many adults over-estimate their asthma control. Take the 5 question "Asthma Control Test" to see if your asthma is under control.

Hint: if you are using your inhaler more than twice a week for symptoms, your asthma is NOT controlled.

Talk to your doctor to see if you need to start a daily, controller inhaler.

Or change to a different strength of your inhaler, or add a different inhaler to your daily controller inhaler.

Protect those lungs! We only have one pair!
